Susan Schuyler-Olmsted has a Ph.D. in English from Stanford University, an M.Phil. from Oxford University, and a B.A. in English and History from Georgetown University. Her research interests include Victorian theatre, nineteenth-century cultural history, and popular culture of all kinds. Her publications include essays in Studies in Popular Culture, Nineteenth-Century Studies, Journal of Victorian Culture, and a short essay in the anthology Crowds (ed. Jeffrey Schnapp and Matthew Tiews, Stanford University Press, 2007). She has presented at conferences on social media, Victorian culture, and the persistence of Victorian melodrama in reality television.

Schuyler-Olmsted has brought her interest in mass media and popular culture to PWR courses including Superfans and Scholars: Writing Fan Culture; Mass Audiences and Modern Communication; The Page and the Stage: Writing and Performance; and The Rhetoric of Reality Culture. A pop culture junkie, she looks forward to more great discussions about reality television, microcelebrities, and manga with her students.
